Subcellular Fractions

Eukaryotic cells perform essential cellular functions in specialized membrane bound subcellular compartments or organelles. These subcellular or intracellular compartments exist as isolated discrete bodies of various shapes and size that perform specialized cellular function. Understanding their biogenesis and maintenance of their integrity in performing specialized functions is a fundamental challenge in cell biology. Often times, it is utmost important to obtain isolated preparations of these organelles to study their biochemical composition, structure and function under varying physiological or disease states. Protein and lipid composition as well as shape and size of various organelles differ from each other. This has enabled scientists to isolate them as enriched subcellular fractions.

Biomolecular Integrations has developed effective methods to isolate various subcellular fractions with minimized cross contamination and enriched organelle specific biomarkers. These preparations are suitable for use in basic cell biology as well as in drug discovery research. We have also developed buffers and reagents that allow extraction of proteins from specific organelles such as membranes, cytoplasm, nucleus, mitochondria and microsomes, Because of enriched protein contents, these extracts offer useful tools for rapidly growing protomics research particularly allowing analysis of otherwise low abundant proteins.

Subcellular Fraction and Organelle Specific Protein Extracts

While offering buffers and reagents for isolation of enriched subcellular fractions and organelles such as nucleus, mitochondia, microsomes, lysosomes and peroxisomes, we also offer ready-made and customized subcellular fraction specific protein extracts from these organelles.

Whole Cell and Tissue Extracts

We also carry whole cell lysates from a wide range cell lines to use as positive controls in your Western blotting experiments. These cell lysates are mixed with SDS-PAGE loading buffer (Laemmli buffer) ready to use on SDS gels. Cell lysates are also available in native lysis buffer most suitable for immuniprecipitation or ELISA applications.
